Mark Vaughn first experienced MCC New Orleans in 2006 when the church was located on Carrollton Ave. Raised in a Southern Protestant denomination, he was inspired by the range of religious and cultural backgrounds and became a member of the church that celebrated God’s diversity of creation and love for everyone. Since that time, he has served as Vice-Moderator of the Board of Directors, chaired pastoral search committees, and played acoustic guitar in the worship band. At the 2016 “Emerge” General Conference of World-Wide Metropolitan Community Churches in Victoria, Canada, Mark experienced spiritual renewal and gained a deeper understanding of the work that God is doing through MCC to change attitudes, stand against persecution of LGBTQ people, and to promote God’s love throughout the world. He is
looking forward to strengthening relationships within the Gulf South Network of MCC churches, furthering our church’s ministries, and preparing our congregation as decisions are made for 2019 General Conference in Orlando, Florida where a new Moderator of the denomination will be elected.
Mark is a graduate of the University of New Orleans and holds bachelor and graduate degrees. He has worked as a teacher of regular and special needs students, Special Ed.
